For the Birds

For the Birds

As many of you know, I simply love to make blocks by the paper piecing foundation method.   One of my primary "paper piecing enablers" is the talented designer Kristy, of the blog Quiet  She hosted this year's paper pieced block of the month sew along, And Sew On..
And Sew On wall hanging  ( designs by Kristy of Quiet Play blog)

I am so  lucky to be able to test out patterns sometimes for Kristy, before she releases them to the public, on her blog  and Craftsy shop.

This week, Kristy was published in the current issue of Australian Quilter’s Companion magazine  (issue 64 )!  (Yay! for Kristy!)

I used embroidery thread for the features on the little bird
I just loved seeing this little bird's personality come alive as I embroidered his feathers!

The Moda Grunge fabric  in gray  has become a favorite fabric.... especially when it is paired with lime! (Note to self:  lime +soft gray= pretty  )

I'm off to my sewing room!

Today, I am linking up at Kristy's  Paper Piecing Party.

  1. Yay! Finally get to share your sweet birdhouse! It's been a long wait! Thanks for testing for me, my friend! (And for your patience!!)

  2. Kristy's patterns are a dream to make. I love the spring colors you have used - perfect mini quilt to brighten a little corner.

    1. And, I have it hanging in my sewing room , to make me smile!

  3. So fresh and happy - a great wallhanging for The Sunroom! I have to agree with your formula for Lime + Soft Gray - that's a favorite color combo of mine, too!

  4. Awesome wall hanging Susie! Such a cute pattern and fabrics you chose; I would have to agree that the embroidered feathers really do give the little birdie a personality :)!!!

  5. Your birdhouse is adorable and your And Sew On finish is AMAZING! I am working hard to get mine done this month... pp seems to be just outside of my comfort zone but I so love the results.

  6. You do such a beautiful job with paper piecing Susie - no wonder Kristy asks you to test patterns for her! This little bird house block is adorable! I love the touches of embroidery too! I love the And Sew On wall hanging - wonderful!
