Quilt Art Designs blog    with Janeen   Sept. 25

Remember what I shared with you earlier this month?    { here }

 My WIP  -'Lil Catz    pattern   by Quilt Art Designs   {HERE}

You know what happens  after you say "Yes" to  more than one cat.....

'Lil Catz Mini wallhanging         made by Susie's Sunroom

'Lil Catz Mini Wallhanging -     design by Janeen at Quilt Art Designs  {here}
Size:    28 "  by 28 "
Foundation paper pieced pattern -   easy level
Fabrics:      Color Me Happy  by V. and Company  Moda fabrics   - scraps left from a quilt
Various black  fabrics from my stash
Kona cotton  gray   for the cat block background
Navy solid from my stash for the inner border

Quilting thread:   Aurifil   50 weight   teal color from the Color Me Happy Collection

I love the "vivid" border fabric!  It reminds me of kitty cat ears, and  cat's eyes.
And it seemed to make all of the other fabrics  "pop" .  Most of all, it made me smile.

I love how  there are nine different  cat patterns  , giving each cat a  slightly different personality!  And,  this is a great scrap buster project!  Also, a good pattern for beginner paper piecing folks.

I made simple triangle shaped corner pockets , to hold a dowel rod, for hanging my mini wallhanging....

And I am sure that you noticed the little black kitty in the middle ?                                   That's my Whiskers, of course!!  I used several tonal black- on -black                                   fabrics for her face, and of course the emerald green Color Me Happy                                    fabric for her green eyes!

Whiskers is the little black kitten in the center block

I think she likes "her" new little quilt!!

I am sure you'll want to hop on over to see the other 'Lil Catz projects that will be shared at  Quilt Art Designs blog.  click  here
We had a sneak peek last week,{  here },  and they are really  creative and beautiful!!
Take a minute to look at all of Janeen's awesome paper pieced designs.  They will amaze you!

Purrfect fun!

Paper Piecing fun!

Some of you may recall that our cat , Whiskers, is my main only helper and chief inspector...

~ a 10 inch finished block

Janeen , of Quilt Art Designs, has created some amazing paper pieced cat silhouette blocks that  perfectly capture so many kitty mannerisms.

What's the big deal, you may be asking?

 Well look....

Silhouette  Cats  @ Quilt Art Designs

I found my Cat #1 pattern in the latest version of-

          QAD   ' Paper Piecing 1/4 "  ' digital magazine issue 4 (Jan - Mar 2015).

The other 11 patterns  are in her Craftsy shop.

( Have you  noticed that I added a little  triangle of white fur on the cat's chest?
Just have to make her look like Whiskers!)  Stay tuned to see what I make with this ( or will it be "these" ) block (s).

"That doesn't look anything like me!"

Halloween Cats

 Halloween Fun with Cats!

I recently found some patterns, with cats, and knew these would be fun to make for Halloween!

The first project - a Patchsmith Mug Rug called " Moonlit Cat"-

(Do  you see the cat on this cover of  The Patchsmith's book of 10 Halloween and Thanksgiving Mug Rugs? )

Pattern here

My daughter, who has a gray cat named Fritz ( or the little Prince, as I like to call him!), requested that I make her this mug rug, and make the  cat gray in color.
I pulled out some dark blue fabric, for the night sky, and some gold for the big ol' moon.  I got out random red pieces of scraps for the wall.  And I had some scrap Brussels Washer Linen for the body of the cat.

The back side of the mug rug.   I like to use the "back as binding" when I can on a mug rug to keep it flat.

Note:  There's a second black cat applique design included as a bonus in this Patchsmith Halloween/Thanksgiving Mug Rug book!

The second project-  a little stuffed cat called "Scooter Pie"    by Bunny Hill Petite Patterns  (here)

My daughter asked me to make her this  sweet little stuffed cat , in a  Beatrix Potter toile fabric that she found this summer.

The fabric -the 3 Little Kittens and Peter Rabbit

They are a fun little size , of 6 " x 7 ",   and don't take long to make.  I use chop sticks to get the polyfil stuffing moved into the spaces.

Well,   you know what I "just had " to make next....

Meet  little Fritzy  Pie

These were shipped out to my daughter as a surprise :)

Fritz and his little Mini-Fritz ...

Ok, what do you think I did next?

( I couldn't "not" make this one for my sweet little Whiskers....)
Whiskers and her little Mini-Whiskers
And since it is nearly Halloween....

Hmmm.... where did YOU come from?

They are a cute addition to my handmade Halloween  decorations.

I want to make a Moonlit Cat mug rug for myself soon, too!

I'm off to my sewing room!

I have a feeling my Whisker Pie
 will be staying out year-round!
