Elaine , and Debbie S, another pattern tester, used colorways of red and aqua and white for their Peppermint quilts.

Elaine's pattern is easy to follow with her directions and detailed diagrams. It was fun fun fun to make! You can get the pattern as a pdf file, or a paper pattern! I didn't want to stop making the blocks, once I started! I ended up making 4 extra blocks, and a label for the back of the quilt!

Elaine's block inspiration:
A wrapped peppermint candy |
Can you see the wrappers on each end of a candy block?
There are 12 different quilt blocks !
I really love the star block! |
I quilted "in the ditch" around each piece of candy. And then I got adventurous, and used the Zig- Zag decorative stitch on my Topaz 30 sewing machine, in the largest size. I outlined each block (on the front side.) You can see the details on the back of the quilt, below.... it gives the quilt a nice texture!

And now, some more eye "candy" .....
Gingerbread fabrics in the blocks |
I used Gingerbread houses fabric for the border |

"Yep, this passes the softness test!" |
This has put me in the mood to make more Christmas projects early. Have you started any holiday projects yet?
I'm off to my sewing room! |
Yay!!! Susie your quilt came out beautiful! So warm and cozy. Thanks so much for the shout out and being an official tester. Love, love, love it!!
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty quilt stitched in that happy sunroom of yours, Susie. It is lovely. As for stitching for the festive season.......nooooooooo........perhaps if I bury my head in my fabric it won't come so quickly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty Christmas quilt! The gingerbread fabrics look so warm and festive and the candies randomly placed on the back look so fun! And of course the kitty on the quilt is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fantastic quilt and fabric combo and the back caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteThat was a lot of eye candy!!! You must be pretty proud to have a quilt ready to enjoy in November/December!!! Your quilt back is as cute as the front and I definitely love your warm color palette!!! Merry Christmas in July!!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks gorgeous in the Christmas fabrics you picked! It would really brighten up the room! I always love to see photos of Whiskers. She makes the quilts even more beautiful :)

Susie you made an amazing rendition of Elaine's Peppermints quilt - I am in love with your gingerbread tones, so rich and Christmassy. Miss Whiskers clearly approves. :) Great work with your photographs too!
