"The Naughty Little Puppy Quilt" .... a Dog Gone Cute pattern |
Welcome to the last day of the Dog Gone Cute Blog Hop! It is my turn to share with you what I made from the new Dog Gone Cute pattern! I could not resist joining in to make these adorable puppy blocks, even though I have a kitty cat and no dogs. ("Someone" does not play well with other pets!!)
pattern here |
I want to thank the sweet, and super talented, Lorna, for putting together the Dog Gone Cute Quilt Along and this blog hop... where we can all show and share our beautiful projects that use her pattern... Dog Gone Cute! ( available here )

Dog Gone Cute Quilt pattern.... "The Naughty Little Puppy" baby quilt by Susie's Sunroom |
Everybody was co-operating, except for that one little, naughty puppy!
My Quilt:

Quilt Size: I modified my quilt size to be: 40 " high by 52 " across
Lorna's pattern is for - 30 " and 60" square quilts.
Lorna's pattern is for - 30 " and 60" square quilts.
The pattern has directions for a set of 8 different pups , in both 6" x 9" blocks and 12 " x 18 " blocks. You can vary/ "mix and match" the pups as you please. How fun is that!

Backing:
I used the remaining border fabric for the backing. It was "stretched out" to fit the width, by adding the center strip with pieces of the leftovers and the remaining puppy block!
I also added a little applique' paw print . I was inspired by the beautiful quilt by Doris, of Quilting Queen Online blog. (see here ) It reminded me of a paw mark that has been imprinted into wet cement... a mischievous puppy does something like that!

The back - A pieced strip in the middle |
The center block is the Mama Dog. Mama doggy is 12 " by 18 " , the larger block size.
Mamma is in the center. |
Three little pups to one side |
I quilted with the walking foot, and this light green Aurifil thread #3320 -from the Color Me Happy collection. I used the wavy stitch, on the largest stitch size, in the sashes and the borders. Each pup shape was outlined with a straight stitch.
I used my curvy stitch (largest size) and my walking foot for quilting |
My husband also noticed the Disco Dots fabric ( for the border and backing fabrics)... he said it reminded him of tennis balls that a puppy would play with!
A note about this Sew Fresh Quilt pattern: Lorna's directions are clear and easy to follow! She has excellent diagrams. I loved making the blocks!

ReplyDeleteHi Susie - what a lovely finish for the DGC blocks! So bright and cheerful .... I especially like the last picture with your cat - it's just what ours has been doing on my DGC quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have outdone yourself, Susie! This is such a cute quilt and I love that naughty little puppy! The fabrics are so bright and cheery. And the quilting looks fabulous! Silly Whiskers....
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh......this is just darling! Love the fun colors and how you did the backing. Such great work. Thanks for shaing. Hugs, Heide
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you kept the naughty pup in there like that! really adds a charm to an already lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fabulous idea to leave that naughty dog on there. It looks so, so cute! My dogs are naughty most of the time, so this quilt would be perfect in my house. Love the colors you chose and the look on your kitty. Definitely not a stick-out-your-tongue-at-it quilt!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bright and happy quilt!!
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that you combined a large pup with a litter of little pups and the fabric selection is so much fun! And there's always one naughty little puppy in the bunch. Good on you for just letting him be!
ReplyDeleteI love your contrary puppy and the rest of her family. Very sweet finish.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful quilt and I loved reading your post. Smart hubby for saying leave the naughty pup.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! Turquoise and lime green are my favorite colors, so this one really grabbed my eye! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. Your quilt is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVery fun to surround the big dog with all those puppies.
ReplyDeleteIt's a puppy party!!! Who wouldn't love to be snuggled by all of these playful puppies?!?! And I have to say, if they were real doggies, and I was choosing one to take home, I'm pretty sure that naughty one would be my first choice. I love everything about this cute quilt!
ReplyDeleteAwww, what an adorable litter of pups! Mommy looks so proud of her brood. Whiskers' opinion is too precious!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love Lorna's doggies! The little puppy upside down is my favorite touch! Wll done!
ReplyDeleteI like how you have added even more personality to these adorable pups! The upside down one ws just meant to be, and the paw print on the back is a superb touch! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove how you showcased the pups! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics you used in your quilt. That green is so vivid, and really makes the cute dog blocks stand out. Yes, I too like that 'naughty dog' block. It just adds character to the whole quilt ;)!
ReplyDeleteHaha!! That's so cute with the one upside-down pup - and the CAT on it! lol :D
ReplyDeleteThe naughty pup is such a sweet take on the quilt, I love it!! They are so adorable and mom looks really happy and proud! And yes, definitely no caption needed for the photo with Whiskers sitting on it :)
ReplyDelete-Soma
I love the Lime background. And the border fabric is fabulous. Job well done!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I'm laughing out loud at that last photo with the cat! I love your quilt and that you used both sizes of dogs on it. My favorite is the "naughty" puppy and that your husband encouraged you to leave it! Fantastic finish. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! I'm quite fond of that naughty little puppy!
ReplyDeleteHi! This is fantastic quilt! I love everything here: puppies, colours, fabrics and the humour! So glad that you didn't send away the naughty puppy! Tennis balls are must (Nero plays with them everyday and bites them like chewing gum). This is really super quilt! x Teje & Nero
